CCF — Commission for the Control of INTERPOL's Files

Last updated: June 2026

What is the CCF?

The CCF is the independent oversight body at Interpol. It monitors compliance with the data protection rules (RPD) and decides on individual requests for access to, correction of, and deletion of Interpol data, in particular Red Notices.

Binding effect since 2017

Since the 2017 reform, CCF decisions have been binding on the Interpol General Secretariat — a significant step forward for affected persons.

Two chambers

Supervisory and Advisory Chamber: general oversight of data processing. Requests Chamber: individual requests for access, correction or deletion.

Deadlines

1 month: admissibility; 4 months: access requests; 9 months: deletion requests; 1 month: implementation by the General Secretariat. Revision based on new facts: 6 months (Article 42 SCCF).

Interim measures

The CCF can provisionally block a Red Notice until the deletion request has been decided.
